TT: #1

To start off our Testimony Tuesday (TT), we've got the testimony of one of our older youth, Shelby M.

Here is her testimony:

Hi, I'm Shelby! :)
My Christian walk started at five years old, which is pretty young. Not surprisingly, I don't even remember praying a "sinner's prayer" or asking Jesus into my heart. In fact, I was secretly a little doubtful of my own salvation, until I was about twelve.
At twelve, I had moved about 800 miles away from my home in order to plant a new church with my family. The move took a tremendous toll on my whole family, my mom and I specifically, and I found myself growing into deep, deep sadness. I refused to make friends in my new town, believing that I would soon move back home, and I became extremely dependant on my mom. I missed being happy and joyful, making people laugh, and acting like a kid. I longed for happiness.
So, I began to search for it in the Bible. I would literally flip through the pages of the Bible until I found something that made me happy, or even a promise of happiness from God. Then, something began to change in me. As I read the Bible over time, the Holy Spirit came into me and gave me the happiness I was longing for, and so much more. More than I expected, and could've hoped for.
Now, living back home in T-town, I still have the joy I got when I was so lonely and sad. Even better, God has given me an even greater desire to read his word and pray! I am loving what God is doing in my life, and I am excited to see where he takes me!

Living like Love,
Shelby

Well, that kicks off our NEW Testimony Tuesdays!

Volunteer Wednesday: praise

Hello, WAY youth! We are SO proud of y'all for everything y'all did last night at the shelter. You all helped in different ways- some fun, others not so fun; but regardless, you did the work of Christ.
You may have been the only glimpse of Jesus those people had ever seen!

So be encouraged with this verse:
May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God. Phil. 1:11

Last night you were all filled with the fruit of your salvation, and you brought MUCH glory to God!

Here's a note of praise from Mrs. Jennifer Young:

Hello Capstone,

I have to tell you how proud I am of our youth. When we arrived at Belk Center Shelter with 30 people, I have to say that they were overwhelmed by us and also seemed to cringe at finding jobs for that many young people. Our people worked so hard. They washed dishes, took out trash, cleaned cots, cleaned toilets, put together food plates, organized donations, guarded doors and so much more. They were diligent, well behaved and served in such a way that Christ was truly glorified. Praise God that we have young adults that have hearts like Christ. They even wanted to go back!

God Bless,
Jen Y

Again, great job!
See you all on Sunday!

Volunteer Wednesday

Hello, everyone!
We are praying that none of you were affected seriously by the tornadoes that hit last Wednesday night!

Unfortunately, there are thousands of people in Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, and Cullman County that are still living with the consequences of those devastating storms.
This is where W.A.Y student ministries is stepping in! This Wednesday, May 4, 2011, we are going to be volunteering at the Belk Center in Tuscaloosa. Please be sure to be a part of this special Wednesday, as we join together to serve our community in the name of Christ!

If you are coming, we need to know so we can arrange for transportation. Please call or email us!
If you are coming, be at Capstone Church NO LATER than 3:45pm. From there, we will go to the Belk Center in Tuscaloosa (Bowers Park) and will work till 7pm (3 hrs). We will meet back at Capstone Church after.

Also this Wednesday, we are welcoming the graduating 6th graders of Capstone Church, into W.A.Y. student ministries! Yay!!! What a wonderful Wednesday to start your journey as a pre-teen in youth!

We hope you all have a great week!
Stay safe!

Sunday Funday!

Hello, everyone!
Hopefully you all know about the disaster that has come upon Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, and Cullman, AL. Please be praying for all who are affected by the tornadoes, and please be open to whatever way God may want you to help out your community!

Despite this tragedy, we are STILL having Sunday Funday at the quad. Bring $5 for lunch (we are stopping at Hungry Howie's on the strip) and any outdoor games you want (Frisbee, wiffle-ball, football, horseshoes, etc)! We are really looking forward to this Sunday! We hope you all can make it; bring your friends!
:)

UPDATE: There will be NO Sunday Funday tomorrow after church due to the extreme circumstances in Tuscaloosa right now. Instead, please get plugged in with a group (will be announced at church tomorrow morning) and help serve tornado victims!

WAY Bible Study

Hey, WAY! Tonight's Bible study is at Capstone Church, 6pm- 7:30pm.
Be there!

We'll be practicing something we've been talking about for a few weeks now- confessing our sins and praying for one another. It may be uncomfortable for a little while, but we are taking Christ up on his promise. We believe that this will grow us together, as well as personally in God.

We hope to see you tonight!

Purity Retreat: 2011

Up and coming is our Purity Retreat, May 13-15! The sessions will be lead by Jennifer and Durell Young, and they will be using Passport 2 Purity as their guide.
This is what Mrs. Jennifer says about Passport 2 Purity, which she and Mr. Durell both have been speaking on for years:

"We believe that the material covered is truly significant. We believe most pivotal life choices are made between the ages of 11 and 16. We want to be proactive in helping your preteen and/or teen decide in advance about the traps of adolescence. If we don't . . . the culture will.
